• LAPEROUSE prefer a transport ship rather than a warship to discover the world and finnaly opted for a flute of 400-500 barrels “le PORTEFAIX” (with a length of 41m ) and armed it to Brest.

• With l’Astrolabe under the commandant of his friend Langle, they left Brest in August 1785 for a voyage around the world of 4 years with a crew of 112 people.

• La Boussole sunk in 1788 at Vanikoro closed to L’Astrolabe
